Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis has appealed to a U.S. judge to grant him access to his bank accounts after his assets were frozen when he was slapped with a $34 million (£21.3 million) bill for unpaid taxes.

Joe Francis, president of the company that produces the "Girls Gone Wild" videos, failed to appear as ordered for a hearing in federal court today, according to uncomfirmed reports.
Instead, Francis' attorney presented the court with a note from a doctor in Mexico that said Francis was suffering from an inner ear infection and could not travel.
The hearing today was scheduled to decide whether the case would continue to trial in January as planned.
